Maria Menounos Out At NBC???

Prepare to see a lot less Maria Menounos on NBC!
With her contract about to expire, the peacock network wants to scale back her contributions on other programming like Today, Nightly News and Dateline but keep her on Access Hollywood.
Of course, that means a lot less money for Maria and is currently looking into other options.

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Grab Coffee Together

Ben Affleck pictures Jennifer Garner pictures The Town #1 movie Easy A

As all of you married couples out there know, once kids come along, you have to grab couple time together whenever you can! Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were spotted having coffee together yesterday morning.

I hope they make some time to go out and celebrate this evening: Ben's new movie, 'The Town,' is projected to be the #1 movie this weekend! It was expected to come in #2 behind the teen movie 'Easy A,' but unless the teens turn out in force tonight, 'The Town' is expected to win the weekend.

After all his ups and downs, I'm sure Ben is a happy guy today :)

Justin Bieber Won't 'Limit' Himself On Next Album

'I just want to make music,' he tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena

It's been a minute since Justin Bieber released new music, and it sounds like the waiting game continues for Beliebers. The singer is currently in the planning and recording stages for his next record and has not set any deadlines for himself. At the moment, Bieber said, he's still creating.

"I want to work a lot with myself," he told MTV News about any plans to expand his collaboration résumé, after working with artists like Chris Brown, Kanye West, Ludacris and Rascal Flatts. "And [I want to] write a lot myself. I will be working with a lot of other producers and stuff like that, but I'm just writing a lot, writing on tour."

So what is Bieber focusing on in this new batch of songs? "[I'm] writing about how I feel and producing. I've been producing on my laptop and on my computer," he said. "I've been really into it and, hopefully, this next album will be huge."

It may be a while until new stuff comes out, but it's not like fans don't already have plenty of Bieber music to listen to in the meantime. Only a couple of years into his career, Bieber has already managed to release the chart-topping albums My World, My World 2.0, Never Say Never — The Remixes and My Worlds Acoustic. He's also dabbled in a number of genres, like pop, hip-hop, R&B and, yes, even country. With so many interests in so many different sounds and so much to draw from, Bieber said he's not boxing himself in on his next release.

"I've done a lot on my acoustic guitar, so it's gonna have that vibe," he explained. "I'm not gonna really limit myself. I think music is music, and genre — I mean, I know there's country music, there's rock music, but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music."

Are you excited for Bieber's next album? Tell us in the comments!

'Dragon Tattoo' Star Rooney Mara 'Nailed' The Part

Daniel Craig tells MTV News his co-star is 'massively impressive' as hacker Lisbeth Salander.
By Eric Ditzian

Who would win the right to be Lisbeth Salander? Last summer, Hollywood was consumed with that question, as some of the biggest names in the business competed to land that coveted starring role in David Fincher's adaptation of the international best-selling crime thriller, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Actresses like Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart and Ellen Page reportedly were eyeing the gig, and yet it went to a relative unknown named Rooney Mara. The fresh-faced Mara seemed an unlikely choice at first to play Salander, an emotionally scarred, motorcycle-driving hacker not adverse to violent confrontations with anyone who crosses her. But our first look at Mara in character assuaged any fan misgivings: Mara has turned into Salander.

And perhaps no one was more impressed by that transformation than co-star Daniel Craig, who plays Mikael Blomkvist, the disgraced journalist hired to investigate a decades-old missing-persons case. Blomkvist then hires Salander to assist in the search.

"Rooney is massively impressive," he told MTV News during a recent "Cowboys & Aliens" press event. "She took [it] on under a massive amount of pressure because obviously there's a lot of expectation. I was massively impressed and she absolutely nailed this. People are hopefully are going to be incredibly surprised and happy with her performance."

"Dragon Tattoo" marks Fincher's first film after the Oscar-nominated hit "The Social Network," in which Mara played a small role. During production on that Facebook-focused flick, Jesse Eisenberg was blown away that Fincher would shoot certain scenes 60 times or more. Craig experienced something similar on "Dragon Tattoo," though he emphasized he expected nothing less.

"Yeah, but I don't count," he said of Fincher's copious takes. "People are always asking me about that, saying, 'Isn't that strange or whatever it is?' but actors live for that. I want to do it over and over again until I get it right. I don't count, so I couldn't tell you what the largest amount of takes are. ... The whole process was great. All of it was great. I had a lot of fun on it."

Check out everything we've got on "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Vanessa Hudgens: "Captain America" Cutie

Getting styled up to check out on of this summer's blockbusters, Vanessa Hudgens attended the "Captain America: The First Avenger" Los Angeles Premiere on Tuesday evening (July 19).

The "Sucker Punch" sweetheart hit the El Capitan Theatre red carpet clad in an adorable short 'n sexy frock while flaunting her just-shortened coif and a big smile at the Tinseltown fete.

Recently talking about her new hairdo - which she cut for her role in "Gimme Shelter" - Vanessa dished, "It's unrecognizable. Even when I'm like kind of done-up, I look in the mirror and I'm like, 'I don't know who that is.'"

She continued, "It was shocking, but at the same time so exciting. Now it gives me the opportunity to be able to step out of what people see me as and allows to them to get out of their heads and be able to just experience the film."

Asked to rate the drastic new look, the 22-year-old answered, "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm going to say, like, an 8, only because there was no smoking or drinking or drugs that my character did. And there's no sex...that you see."

Casey Anthony Orlando Footage Not Her, Says Lawyer

With those who followed the case curiously wondering her whereabouts, a supposed video recorded sighting of Casey Anthony popped on the web today (July 19).

The clip shows a person in a pink top matching the recently acquitted murder trial defendant's jail release garb being covered up while in her hometown of Orlando, Florida.

Adding to the thought that it actually may be Casey, the recording is shot with a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft owned by the firm of Anthony's former attorney, Todd Macaluso, in the background.

While other rumors place Miss Anthony in Columbus, Ohio and Southern California, Casey's lawyer Jose Baez denies that the Orlando footage is of his client.

"It is not her. It is 100 percent not Casey Anthony," Baez told People magazine. "We wouldn't bring her back to Orlando three days after she left, in broad daylight. It doesn't even look like her. This is Macaluso playing games."

As for the reason for Macaluso's plane being in the video, Baez said that Todd is "probably tired of people following his plane, so he came up with this. But it is not Casey. Casey is not in Orlando."

Lady Gaga on Drug Use & Her Sex Life

Lady Gaga on Drug Use & Her Sex Life

Lady Gaga makes no bones about the fact that she is an open book to her Little Monsters. And Monday, while a guest on Howard Stern's show, she proved it once again, candidly discussing her past drug use -- which included, among other things, quite a bit of cocaine. But Gaga didn't glorify her drug habit, instead directly telling her fans that they should steer clear of the stuff. "To any of the little sweethearts that are listening, don't touch (cocaine)," the 25-year-old star said. "It's the devil."

"I was so unhappy," Gaga said, by way of explaining why she turned to hard-core drugs. "Yeah. I think that I was lonely and there was something about the drugs that made me feel like I had a friend." But Gaga insists that she didn't turn to narcotics to fit in with her peers. "I didn't do it with other people, though. I did it alone. I did it all alone in my apartment and I wrote music," she said. "And you know what? I regret every line I ever did."

Gaga says she's off drugs now -- except for marijuana. "Well, come on, that's not (a drug)," she joked. "I really don't do it very often. I'm really honest about it."

Of course, this being Howard Stern's show, there was also some frank talk about sex where all bets are off. And, true to his M.O., Stern asked Gaga about experimenting with women. "That was later, that was college, that was brief," she said. And, though she played coy about the status of her relationship with ex Luc Carl (she called him her "best friend"), she did admit that she "got laid last night."

After all the candid talk, Gaga did have one final message for all her Little Monsters. "I've got a lot of young fans," she told Stern. "I love you and I respect this show and I know you want to talk about sex and cocaine and all of that. But the truth is: I don't want anyone doing drugs, a, and b, honestly you should wait as long as you can to have sex, because as a woman you don't even begin to enjoy it until your mid-20s. When you're 17, you don't even know how to operate what's going on down there and you shouldn't try." They don't call her Mother Monster for nothing!

Season 8 of 'How I Met Your Mother' Could Be the Last!

Season 8 of 'How I Met Your Mother' Could Be the Last!

If you're still a fan of CBS' How I Met Your Mother after six seasons of never finding out who the freakin' mother is, then chances are you watch the show for other reasons. You enjoy the humor, perhaps. Or you glean dating tips from Barney (Neil Patrick Harris).

But as we enter season 7, creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays say that they might soon deliver on the details the show promises in its title because it may be near the end of its run. "Right now we're contracted to go through Season 8, and at that point, there is every chance that that's the end of 'How I Met Your Mother,'" Bays tells AOL TV. "If that's the case, then that's our end point."

With just two seasons left, story lines will have to start wrapping up. And that would sure be nice, since last season just opened up new mysteries. In the season 6 finale, viewers were shocked to see Barney at a wedding altar. The episode left fans wondering about the identity of his bride -- who is she, and how did this happen?

"That's Season 7 -- how he gets to that church, puts on that tuxedo and ends up moments away from marrying somebody." Thomas tells TV Guide. "We love the storytelling challenge of showing how this character is so notoriously and proudly single, who has always hated the notion of marriage, getting there."

And if the show does end after Season 8, then of course we'll learn about Ted's (Josh Radnor) future wife the following year. "I can tell you we're going to fill in pieces of the puzzle now since we know Ted meets the mother at Barney's wedding," says Thomas. "We sort of did that because ultimately, we like the idea of further complicating the mystery."

Meanwhile, in the season to come, Ted will finally have a chance to sow his oats. "He's a hotshot architect having his building built in New York City," says Thomas. "He's realizing, 'Wait a second. I'm kind of a catch right now.' His stock is very high and he's dealing with the fact that he's very attractive to the ladies at the moment. He's struggling with whether to take advantage of that or stay on track of trying to find the right person to settle down with. Is this the moment to work it a little bit? He's a little torn."

As for Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel), "the pregnancy and a baby will open up more stories," says Thomas. "And Marshall is still unemployed at the start of Season 7. He just learned he's going to be a father, but he doesn't have a job. We'll eventually see Marshall land at an environmental law firm with [guest star] Martin Short."

Fans of Lost might remember that that series began to come together once the producers had a firm end date in sight. Hopefully, that will happen here, too. The storylines are already in place for the season to come: "We know exactly the ending minute or two of Season 7," says Bays. "It's going to take place in the future at that wedding day and we're going to end Season 7 there. It's going to be something! And we'll also end with a baby being born and then head into 8. And maybe there'll be more."

Of course, right now the plans to end the show post-season 8 are still tentative. CBS might want it to continue if its top hit, Two and a Half Men, begins to slide in the ratings without Charlie Sheen.

"We are open to doing this as long as we feel we have stories to tell, and, of equal importance, as long as people want to watch it," says Bays. "If it still feels exciting going into a Season 9, then we'll keep doing it."

So maybe next year we'll know who the "mother" is. And…maybe not.

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray's Trial To Be Televised

Judge rules that camera will be allowed in the courtroom for manslaughter case.
By Gil Kaufman

For what promises to be one of the most bizarre and riveting legal proceedings in years, a Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday that a television camera will be allowed in the courtroom when Michael Jackson's doctor goes on trial for involuntary manslaughter.

Reuters reported that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, approved the presence of a camera in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray as long as it does not interfere with the proceedings in the closely watched case.

The judge asked for the "absolute least-intrusive placement" of a TV camera in the courtroom, but blocked cameras from documenting jury selection.

Pastor also announced that he would bump up the opening date of the trail by four days to March 24, at which point jury selection will begin. Murray, who faces up to four years in prison if convicted, has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the trial is expected to last around six weeks.

Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson's personal physician in the run-up to the King of Pop's planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London's O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided Jackson, 50, with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer's chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning.

TMZ reported on Tuesday (February 8) that Murray's lawyers plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died and that it's unfair to blame propofol for his passing. Unnamed sources close to the case told the gossip site that at the time of his death, Jackson's body was already failing him in part because concert promoter AEG Live had "driven [him] over the edge" with a rigorous rehearsal schedule for the shows.

Murray's lawyers reportedly plan to call witnesses to say that Jackson was not showing up for rehearsals and when he did he showed "clear signs" of frail health. They also reportedly plan to argue that it was Jackson who administered the final, fatal dose of propofol to himself while Murray was out of the room.

Michael Jackson's Legacy, Two Years Later, By the Numbers

Legendary singer's impact continues to blossom in the two years since his death; MTV News breaks down the figures.
By Gil Kaufman

Like Elvis, Bob Marley, Notorious B.I.G. and Frank Sinatra before him, Michael Jackson's influence has continued, and grown, since his untimely death on June 25, 2009.

On the second anniversary of the King of Pop's passing, MTV News took a look at the enduring appeal of MJ's music, videos and imagery, which continue to fascinate and attract fans across the globe thanks to a series of posthumous albums, a movie, video games and two upcoming Cirque du Soleil live shows.

Where Were You Two Years Ago When You Heard the News? Tell Us on Facebook

$72 million: According to Box Office Mojo, Jackson's posthumous concert film, "This Is It," has grossed more than $72 million to date domestically and $189 million in foreign markets for a worldwide take over more than $261 million. It ranks as the #2 music documentary of all-time behind Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never." The film has also generated nearly $45 million in DVD sales in the U.S.

16: In May, Jackson lodged his first #1 on the Billboard magazine Dance/ Club Play Songs chart in 16 years with the latest single from his posthumous Michael album, "Hollywood Tonight."

2: Number of posthumous albums that have been released since Michael's death in June 2009. Last year's Michael has sold just over 510,000 copies to date, while the This Is It collection has moved nearly 1 million copies to date in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

15,000: The number of videos submitted by fans since March for the crowdsourced video for "Behind the Mask." After they were edited down by a five-person team over two months, the resulting clip used submissions from more than 1,600 participants from 103 countries.

3 million: The amount of copies sold of the Ubisoft "Michael Jackson: The Experience" video game worldwide.

$57 million: The reported cost of Cirque du Soleil's traveling MJ show, "The Immortal World Tour, which is slated to kick off on October 2.

$1 billion: That gaudy figure is the reported amount the Jackson estate had generated by last June on the first anniversary of the singer's death. According to Billboard, the revenue was generated by a combination of music sales ($429 million), film/TV revenue ($392 million), music publishing ($130 million), licensing ($35 million) and a $31 million recording contract. (A spokesperson for Jackson's estate declined to provide updated figures for this story.)

$310 million: The amount of gross earnings reported by the executors of the estate in a December 2010 court filing detailing the progress made in paying off the $400 million in debt run up by the spendthrift singer during his lifetime.

16.1 million: MJ was always a big singles artist. Yes, Thriller is one of the best-selling albums of all time, but even in death, fans can't resist cherry-picking some of Michael's best songs. That explains why he's sold more than 16 million digital tracks since June 28, 2009, the first sales week following his passing, according to Nielsen SoundScan. To put that in perspective, from the time Nielsen began counting digital tracks in 2004 until the week before Jackson's death, the singer had sold just over 8.1 million digital tracks, a figure that has doubled in just the past two years.

2013: The projected launch for a second, non-touring Cirque show celebrating Jackson. The yet-untitled show is slated to open in the spring of 2013 at a new theater being built at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

$25 million to $50 million: That's how much Jackson's estate takes in on an annual basis thanks to his stake in the half-million-song Sony/ATV catalog, which includes titles by Elvis, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Beyoncé and Bob Dylan.

Beyonce Surprises Fans At Harlem Target

Retail giant, meanwhile, promises that video exclusive for deluxe edition of 4 will be ready soon.

While traipsing the globe to promote 4, Beyoncé stopped by New York City's Harlem Target on Thursday to say hello to some of her young fans.

As the store celebrated its one-year anniversary, kids from the local Boys and Girls Club danced their hearts out onstage to Beyoncé's new track "Countdown." In the middle of the song, B took the stage and gave them a big group hug before letting them continue their routine.

"I'd like to thank the Boys and Girls Club for coming out. I hope y'all had fun learning the choreography to 'Countdown' today," she told the crowd, in footage posted on Rap-up.com. "I hope you guys enjoy the new album 4."

Beyoncé had a little bit of a commercial reason to show up at the Target store: The deluxe version of 4, which is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard albums chart, is available exclusively at the retail giant. But since the disc's release on Tuesday, fans have complained that some Targets didn't stock enough copies, and the promised exclusive video can't be accessed yet.

"Honestly, day one sales were fantastic for us, especially on the deluxe edition," John Butcher, Target's vice president of entertainment, told The Hollywood Reporter, assuring fans that Sony was delivering more CDs soon.

As for the promised exclusive director's cut of B's "Run the World (Girls)" video, Butcher explained that the clip wasn't quite ready for public consumption, but it should be ready shortly. "Beyoncé's team is still finalizing aspects of the content, and they just didn't want [it] to be released until it was perfect," he said. "We could have forced something through that wasn't right — it was our prerogative to do so — but we didn't want to do it. We certainly don't want to disappoint our guests. We believe they'd rather have the right content and wait a couple days than get something that wasn't going to be very special."

'Harry Potter' Zaps Opening-Weekend Box-Office Record

'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' surpasses 'The Dark Knight' and 'Spider-Man 3' with biggest opening weekend.
By Ryan J. Downey

With the swift decisiveness of a magic wand, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" vanquished several box-office records over the weekend. The final and best-reviewed entry in the Potter franchise now holds the record for biggest first day and biggest opening weekend (both domestically and across the world) and helped push the franchise past the $2 billion mark.

The eighth "Harry Potter" movie took in $92.1 million in North America on Friday and went on to earn a weekend total of $168.5 million, according to studio estimates. The new "Potter" film's box-office gross topped those of previous record holders like "The Dark Knight" and "Spider-Man 3," although it trailed them in attendance. "Deathly Hallows Part 2" ranked sixth overall when it comes to number of tickets sold.

Over 3100 locations offered the film in 3-D (the largest 3-D rollout ever) but only 43 percent of audiences chose to see the film that way, offering another example of moviegoers' 3-D fatigue.

Disney's reboot of sorts of "Winnie the Pooh" didn't stand a chance against the boy wizard and his pals, with the latest animated take on the classic character drumming up just $8 million in its debut.

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was a distant #2 at the box office during its third week of release, taking in $21.2 million for a $302.8 million total. Dark workplace comedy "Horrible Bosses" was #3 on the scorecard with $17.6 million for a $60 million total.

Kevin James' "Zookeeper" took in $12.3 million for a $42.3 million total, which is far behind where the comedian's "Paul Blart: Mallcop" was during a similar point in its theatrical release. "Cars 2" rounded out the top five with $8.3 million. The computer-animated flick's $165.3 million total and overall attendance record marks a 12-year low for the much celebrated Pixar Studios.

Writer/director Woody Allen has plenty to be happy about, however, as "Midnight in Paris" became his highest-grossing film over the weekend. The fantastical, well-reviewed movie has earned $41.8 million and ranks seventh among Allen's films in terms of number of tickets sold.

This weekend will mark the arrival of two heavily promoted summer movies: highly anticipated "Captain America: The First Avenger," which stars Chris Evans in the title role, and the Justin Timberlake/ Mila Kunis romantic comedy "Friends With Benefits."

Although most of our Marvel Comics-related movie excitement these days is pegged to the impending release of "Captain America: The First Avenger," we can't help but already get excited for next year's highly anticipated, superhero-filled "The Avengers."

When MTV News caught up with Cap himself, Chris Evans, during our "MTV First: Captain America" interview Thursday, we asked for his thoughts on working with fan-favorite "Avengers" director Joss Whedon.

"He's unbelievable," Evans said. "He's so clever. He lives in the world of comic books, so he has in his head an amazing story already mapped out. When it comes to directing actors and understanding dialogue, he's an incredibly talented writer. If something isn't working for you as an actor within the words, he can walk away for 10 minutes and come back with seven options that are all fantastic and clever and witty and it's got a pace and a banter," he explained. "He's a great guy to be quarterbacking this thing."

With regard to Captain America's story line in "The Avengers," the details of which Evans couldn't fully divulge but are briefly teased at the end of "Captain America," he said his character is basically a fish out of water trying to understand the modern world around him.

"It's really multifaceted. The guy has to accept the fact that everyone he knew and loved is gone," Evans said of his character's new arc. "Not only is he alone, [but] the world has changed so much, and I think a big part of what makes Cap Cap was his connection to the way things used to be, this kind of pro-American morality and good-ol'-boy sense of life and the way of doing things," he added. "In the modern era, there's a bit of a disconnect. There's not as much human interaction. I think there's more cynicism than there was back then, so it's him trying to come to terms with the way things are."
